Many people often say that we live in a sick society. Some people are alittle cynic; whatever they see, they criticize it. They also claim that the news always make the public feel disappointed. But I refute this kind of sentence, because I know that there is still encouraging and touching news.
Last month, an earthquake happened to Sichuan, which caused great calamity. The Red Cross soon went to the places which needed emergent help, and began to raise funds for the refugees. One day. an beggar appeared at a station of the institude. Everyone could see that he needed help and think that he was coming for the relief. The crippled beggar made his way to the desk. To their surprise, the beggar took several bundles of bills from his ragged pocket and told the volunteers that he wanted to donate his ”salary” in past three years; it was 2,7325 RMB. Thevolunteers were shocked, and som e of them was even moved to tears. “ I’ve received other’s help for too long, and now it’s my turn to help others in need,”the beggar said and refused to leave his name. When he faltered on my way of leaving, a volunteer seized him by the arm and stuffed a fifty-dollar bill in his palm. The beggar tried to give it back, but the volunteer insisted ” You’ve donated all of yours. Youhave to eat something to live.“ Eventually the beggar accept it.
The money donated by the beggar wasn’t big, but ut was his whole possession. Even a beggar would like to help others without selfishness, what about us, who live without the threat of life? This is what I learned from this news; We shouldn’t be stingy when the situation needs our help, because helping others may simultaneously help ourselves in the future.
