  Many people receive many gifts during their process of growing. A birthday gift reminds a person that he is getting elder and should be mature. A gift given for a festival reminds a person that he should remember the significance of that day. Of all the gifts, everyone will adore something the most. As for me, the most memorable gift I have ever received is an electric dictionary.
   I received the electric dictionary from my mother when I was going to study in senior high school. She gave me that little machine as a reward because I entered the language elite class.“ You'll have to look up many buzzwords in your class to catch up with your teacher. Make good use of it.” My mother patted me on the shoulder and handed the expensive machine to me. I gazed at the gloss on its surface and felt a little dazzled.
   I did take advantage of my electric dictionary. It took me a little time to get used to the way to operate the functions. I carried it with me wherever I went, so that I could search the words that flashed into my mind. I began to think in English when I had leisure time, because I had fostered a hobby of translating Chinese lyrics into English. I found that my electric dictionary could save the sentences that I had typed. Therefore, I saved the drafts in it until I finished translating a song. Day by day, my English ability improved and my vocabulary enlarged thanks to my electric dictionary!
   Now, that electric dictionary has retired gloriously, for it almost reached its longevity. It has many malfunctions now and hence makes it hard to use. Anyhow, It's still the most memorable gift I have ever received. I cherish the good old days when it helped me with my English .
